Located at the southernmost part of Islay, but unfortunately no longer in operation. Closed in 1983 and the still house was dismantled in 1991. The malting plant is running at full capacity to provide all other distilleries of their malted barley. Thepagodas remained because they are under preservation. In the near future the stocks of Port Ellen will be exhausted. “It’s a bloody shame !!”.
Nose: Elegant, sweet earth tones with seaweed, oil and salt
Palate: Beautifully balanced with smoked peat, citrus, barley and milk chocolate
Finish: Long, sweet and an earthy smoke character
