Ardmore distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery that is owned and operated by Beam Suntory. This is an American part of Suntory Holdings from Osaka, Japan. This distillery was built in 1898 by William Teacher to ensure that he malt enough whisky had for his blend, Teacher's Highland Cream. Ardmore is still an important part of that. The distillery is located in the fields of "the Garioch". Near the River Bogie and the village of Kennethmont, Huntly, Aberdeenshire. Two stills have been added in 1955, and another four in 1974, so that there are now total 8. Until the middle of the 70 years there were also own malt floors and an own cooperage until the end of the 80 years. Until the beginning of 2001, coal was still used to heat the boilers. Nose: This is a peated Ardmore that opens with cigarette smoke, mixed with fruit and vanilla
Taste: The citrus fruit goes with the mouth with grastones and heavier earth tones. The peat comes back again, which gives it a somewhat strong taste
Finish: Warming and spicy on the palate
