The Smokery Caol ILa Wemyss, 1980 33 years, 46,0%, 0,7L, hogshead, 322 bottles.
The distillery is located in the north of Islay at the strait (the Sound of Islay) which separates Islay from Jura. From the sea, the stills can be seen though the windows. Around the distillery are the homes of the employees of Caol Ila. For a part the whisky is used in the blends: Bell’s and Whitehorse.
Nose: Fruity and floral, with an oily texture. A little ash and mustiness line an old fireplace.
Taste: Pie baked in a wood-burning-stove with aplles and pears, cinnamon and ginger and a little ash.
Finish: Light with sweet tobacco and smoke, gingery at the end.
