The Girvan distillery is a Lowland grain distillery located in South Ayrshire, Scotland and is owned by William Grant & Sons. The distillery was founded in 1963 with the installation of its first Coffey still, which was celebrated with their first official bottling. The company introduced its export single grain whisky, Black Barrel in 1995 to Spain, Portugal, and Italy.
Ladyburn operated as a single malt distillery on site from 1968 until 1975 and as of 2007, the site has also been home of Ailsa Bay Distillery. The first release from Ailsa Bay – peated Lowland whisky, which is. rare for the lowland area. It’s rich and earthy, with sweet aniseed and hints of tar. 48.9% ABV.
The distillery also produces Hendrick’s Gin.
